Gregor Henze, Ph.D., P.E
EPICenter Director of Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Programs
Professor in the College of Engineering at the University of Colorado with a focus on building energy efficiency and renewable energy, maintains extensive research relationships with leading European renewable energy research institutes and universities, is an associate editor for the Journal of Solar Energy Engineering, and has developed a certification program for high-performance building design professionals.
No more than 3 other university programs in the nation have a graduate degree (MS and PhD) focus on building energy efficiency and renewable energy and no other Colorado based education program is so uniquely prepared to assist in the training and workforce development needs of the State of Colorado to successfully transition to the new industries of energy efficiency and renewable energy.
Prof. Henze brings connections to several world-renowned renewable energy research laboratories (Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems in Freiburg, Germany) and universities with a focus on ultra-efficient building design (Technical University of Karlsruhe) as well as industry players in large-scale solar power (Sun Carrier) and building automation and control systems (Siemens Building Technology and Johnson Controls).
EPIcenter through its connection to the University of Colorado can capitalize on several decades of research and development in commercial and residential building energy efficiency, sustainable building design, demand-side management, solar energy, and advanced building control strategies. In fact, the Building Systems Program at the University of Colorado has twice won the Solar Decathlon competition and has educated hundreds of architectural engineers, building energy consultants, and renewable energy specialists over the last 30 years that have served research labs, state energy offices, industry and academia.
